 The Spark: Trading a "Terrible Boss" for Entrepreneurial Freedom

One of the first things we talked about was my motivation. It wasn't just a desire to be an entrepreneur; it was a deep-seated need to create a life on my own terms. After 8.5 years as a table games dealer and poker supervisor, a bad experience with a manager became my turning point. I realized I never wanted someone else to have that kind of control over my life again.

As I shared in the interview, my fear of going back to my old job was greater than my fear of failing as an entrepreneur.

That fear, combined with the opportunity of my second maternity leave, pushed me to take a 12-week online business course. It was there that I landed my first client—a migration from Thinkific to Kajabi. I knew nothing about the platform at the time, but I dove in headfirst. I was immediately hooked by how intuitive and powerful Kajabi was. My natural love for tech and systems finally found its home.

In March 2020, I took a leap and posted a gig on a freelance platform. Within two months, I was booked solid and earning nearly my full-time salary. That's when I knew this was real. I registered my company, Solo Site Solutions, and never looked back.
